This simple but delicious green apple smoothie is combined with apple juice, bananas and fresh ginger. It has a really nice, sweet and sour flavor profile from the green apples and bananas and a hint of spice from the ginger, although that is optional.
1 ½cupsgreen apple slices - frozen - about 1 ½ medium green apples
½cupbanana slices - frozen
cinnamon powder - optional
Instructions
Add all of the ingredients to a blender.
Blend on high speed until smooth. Adjust the thickness with apple juice, if needed.
Transfer to a glass and serve! Sprinkle with cinnamon powder if desired.
Notes
I like to slice extra apples, portion them out into 1 or 1 ½ cup servings and store in the freezer for smoothies when the mood strikes. Just label the bag with the amount of apples so you know how much you’re grabbing without having to measure later.
If you can’t find frozen apple slices and want to freeze your own, it’s easy. All you have to do is:
Clean, core and slice some fresh green apples with the skin on.
Place them spaced apart on a baking sheet.
Transfer to the freezer until solid.
Use them in this smoothie immediately or transfer to a freezer bag and back into the freezer for later.
