Double chocolate smoothie with straw in glass.

This smoothie is made without bananas and it’s even more chocolatey than my chocolate peanut butter smoothie and chocolate banana smoothie. It’s a great, healthy alternative to a milkshake for both kids and adults. Let’s celebrate this cocoa creation, because life without chocolate is like a never-ending Monday – simply unbearable!

🍫Ingredients

Double chocolate smoothie ingredients prepped on wooden board.
  • unsweetened cocoa powder – Despite being a powder it dissolves well into the smoothie giving it a pure chocolate flavor. You could even garnish the smoothie with the cocoa powder if the double chocolate wasn’t enough.
  • chocolate milk – This is where the double chocolate comes in. It amps up the creaminess and chocolatiness of this smoothie.
  • vanilla yogurt – I use Greek 2% for this smoothie.
  • frozen avocado – I love avocado in a smoothie. Either buy them pre-frozen in the grocery store or freeze your own avocado chunks on a baking sheet.
  • sweetener of choice – My go-to sweetener for smoothies is agave nectar. It blends nicely and has a neutral, sweet taste. I use about two tablespoons in this smoothie but you can sweeten yours to taste.

🥣How to Make it

Double chocolate smoothie with straw in glass, sprinkled with cocoa powder.
  1. Add ingredients. Add the chocolate milk, vanilla yogurt, cocoa powder and frozen avocado to a blender.
  2. Blend. Blend on high speed until smooth. Scrape down the sides as needed. Add sweetener, to taste.
  3. Serve. Transfer to a glass and serve.

🌟Blending Tip

I find that frozen avocado needs a little extra blending time so make sure you blend on high speed until all of those chunks are nice and smooth.
