In this cherry smoothie, we keep it simple and let the cherries shine with 3 basic ingredients. The sweet bing cherries, bananas and cherry yogurt provide the perfect combination of sweet and tart flavor.
The end result is a fruity, vibrant, pinkish-red concoction with a texture that is thick but smooth enough to sip it through a straw.
Feel free to customize the recipe based on your taste preferences and dietary restrictions. Whether enjoyed as a breakfast option, a snack, or a post-workout refresher, this cherry smoothie can be a delicious and nutritious choice.
🍒Ingredients
- frozen cherries – I use the classic sweet bing cherries. If you are freezing your own, make sure you choose ripe cherries that are firm and plump in texture and deep/shiny in color.
- cherry yogurt – If you can’t find cherry yogurt, it is perfectly fine to use vanilla yogurt instead.
- frozen bananas – You can find pre-frozen banana slices in the supermarket.
*See recipe card for ingredient amounts.
🥣How to Make it
- Add all of the ingredients to a blender.
- Blend on high speed until smooth. You might need to stop the blender and scrape the sides down once or twice.
- Transfer to a glass and serve. Garnish with fresh cherries, if desired.
❓Recipe FAQs
I just wouldn’t recommend leaving the pits in. Not only would that be hard on the blender but they are very bitter.
Absolutely. You can blend fresh or frozen pitted cherries in a smoothie.
If your smoothie is not quite sweet enough for your liking, trying blending in a touch of agave nectar.
