Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie

Who needs a chocolate milkshake when you have something as delicious and wholesome as this chocolate peanut butter smoothie? It’s naturally sweetened with bananas; no added sugars here! It’s also dairy free and vegan.

Aside from the bananas, the mixture uses mostly nuts and seeds plus some cocoa powder for that rich chocolate flavor.

Ingredients

  • almond milk – make sure you use the unsweetened kind
  • vanilla extract – optional
  • peanut butter – I’ve used both smooth and crunchy peanut butter; it doesn’t make a difference as it gets blended anyway–so use whatever kind you have on hand.
  • hemp hearts – these are just shelled hemp seeds
  • cocoa powder – unsweetened
  • bananas – sliced and frozen
  • chopped peanuts – this is an optional topping

How to Make it

  1. Add all of the ingredients to a blender.
  2. Blend on high speed until smooth. If it’s too thick for your liking, you can add some more almond milk to thin it out.
  3. Transfer to a glass. Top with more hemp hearts, peanuts and cocoa powder, if desired. Serve!

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup almond milk - unsweetened
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract - optional
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons hemp hearts
  • 1 ½ tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 cup bananas - sliced and frozen
  • chopped peanuts - optional topping
