Healthy Green Smoothie

Sharing is caring!

This healthy green smoothie couldn’t get anymore green with its mixture of cucumber, spinach, lime, kiwi and avocado. Pineapple and fruit juice give it a touch of sweetness and balance out the flavors so that you can get this one down without plugging the nose! If you like the spiciness of ginger, you can add a touch as well for some kick.

It’s vibrantly green like my apple smoothie but with its own distinct combination that includes multiple vegetables. I love blending up this smoothie when I’m feeling like a salad for breakfast but need something easier and quicker to make.

Ingredients

Green smoothie ingredients on wooden serving board.
  • orange juice – No sugar added. From concentrate is okay.
  • lime juice – Freshly squeezed for best flavor.
  • ginger – This is optional for some kick. I know some people don’t like the flavor so feel free to leave it out.
  • kiwi – Make sure they are nice and ripe. They will be slightly soft.
  • cucumber – With the skin on for extra fiber.
  • spinach leaves – I like to use baby spinach leaves.
  • frozen pineapple chunks – Store-bought pre-frozen pineapple chunks are cheaper but they might not be as sweet and ripe as home-frozen fruit.
  • frozen avocado chunks – Buying pre-frozen avocado chunks saves on a lot of prep time.

As you can see, with all of the fruits and vegetables in this smoothie, it is a fiber powerhouse!

Recipe FAQs

What are the best greens to put in a smoothie?

My top three favorite greens to add to a smoothie are baby spinach, cucumber and avocado. The spinach and cucumber are mild in flavor and add hydration while the avocado adds creaminess.

Are green smoothies better with milk or water?

When it comes to taste, I prefer to make green smoothies with water and add avocado for creaminess.
