Greek Yogurt Smoothie

Sharing is caring!

Plain yogurt is the star of this 4-ingredient Greek yogurt smoothie. It’s sweet and creamy with the addition of banana and coconut milk. If you like eating your Greek yogurt with a bit of honey then you’ll love this smoothie as it is basically that same combination in a glass.

Overall, the complementary flavors and textures make honey and Greek yogurt a winning combination. Honey adds liquidy sweetness to the tangy flavor and thick texture of Greek yogurt. Some more smoothie combinations that are creamy and delicious are this white dragon fruit smoothie and virgin piña colada smoothie.

This simple smoothie only uses 4 ingredients:

  • unsweetened coconut milk – I use canned coconut milk without additives or preservatives. You can substitute with another plant-based milk or regular cow’s milk if needed.
  • plain Greek yogurt – I go for the full fat but you can go lighter if you like.
  • liquid honey – Honey and Greek yogurt is a classic combination.
  • bananas – Sliced and frozen.

How to Make it

  1. Add all of the ingredients to a blender.
  2. Blend on high speed until smooth. If you would like it to be thicker, add some ice and blend it into the smoothie.
  3. Transfer to a glass and serve.

Recipe FAQs

Is Greek or natural yogurt better for smoothies?

If you want a thinner and lighter smoothie, you can go with natural yogurt. I like Greek yogurt for its thicker, creamier texture and tangier taste.

Is a Greek yogurt smoothie high in calories?

This smoothie is quite high in calories. It starts making sense when you begin to add it all up. One tablespoon of honey, alone, has 63.8 calories. I personally don’t count calories, but if you’re looking for a high calorie snack, this is a good one.

Can you mix yogurt and milk in a smoothie?

Absolutely. Mixing yogurt with milk, like I do in this yogurt smoothie, makes for a sippable smoothie consistency with a creamy taste and texture.
