Coffee Smoothie

Sharing is caring!

Start your morning off with this coffee smoothie featuring a mix of black brewed coffee plus instant coffee for bold java flavor! Adding the cinnamon sugar rim to your glass is a fun and tasty way to sip on this delicious breakfast smoothie. Sometimes I like my coffee chilled, like on a hot summer day, and this is my go to recipe for that occasion. Plus, it’s a great way to add some fiber to your morning cuppa.

Ingredients

Coffee smoothie ingredients prepped on wooden board.

For the Sugar Rim (Optional):

  • sugar
  • cinnamon
  • maple syrup

For the Coffee Smoothie:

  • cold strong black brewed coffee
  • half and half cream
  • sugar
  • vanilla extract
  • instant coffee – This is going to give you a more bold coffee flavor so that it doesn’t get washed out by the other ingredients in the smoothie.
  • banana – Pre-sliced and frozen. I find that this is a necessary ingredient to bind all of the ingredients together. If you don’t add it the mixture will end up thinner and much less smooth. It also adds some natural sweetness. If you can’t stand the taste of bananas, try using a different frozen fruit instead that you won’t mind adding to the taste of your coffee such as avocado or mango.
  • ice cubes – The ice cubes will also help thicken and chill the smoothie. You can add more or less depending on the thickness you are looking for.
  • peanut butter – This is optional. It gives the smoothie a little more creaminess and a hint of peanut butter flavor/scent; which I personally love. It also adds some protein and other nutrients.
