Pistachio Smoothie

Sharing is caring!

Meet your new smoothie staple: a pistachio smoothie blend that’s nutty, creamy, and just the right amount of sweet, thanks to a splash of pineapple and a drizzle of agave nectar. When the usual fruit and veggie smoothies feel a bit ‘same old,’ I reach for this one to shake things up. These green gems do more than just taste good—they’re a powerhouse for your body. Time to blend up something deliciously different!

Why You Will Love it

  • Nutty Goodness: Pistachios bring a rich, nutty flavor that’s creamy and satisfying—perfect for breaking away from the usual fruit and vegetable blends like the classic strawberry smoothie or green smoothie recipe.
  • Naturally Green and Gorgeous: No need for artificial colors—pistachios bring their signature green hue, making it as eye-catching as it is nutritious.
  • Versatile Anytime Drink: Great for breakfast, a midday snack, or a pre-workout boost.

Ingredients

Pistachio smoothie ingredients prepped and labeled.
  • unsweetened pistachio milk – Pistachio nuts need less water to grow than almonds do, which makes this milk more environmentally friendly. You can easily swap it out for another milk if you can’t find it or don’t have it on hand: try cow’s milk or another plant-based milk like oat, almond or soy.
  • pistachios – I recommend you use roasted and unsalted pistachios. You can use raw pistachios, but I much prefer the taste of roasted pistachios in this smoothie. They are also more digestible than raw and deeper in that beautiful, vibrant, green color.
  • frozen avocado – Avocado is mild in taste, letting the nuttiness of the pistachios shine through, and helps to make the smoothie thick and creamy.
  • frozen pineapple – The taste of the pineapple in this smoothie is subtle but it really complements the flavor of the pistachio.
  • agave nectar – Agave blends really well into smoothies and because of the low sugar ingredients, I find that the agave gives it a boost of much needed sweetness. Feel free to leave this out or adjust the amount to your liking.
  • ground cinnamon – A little bit of spice from the cinnamon is a nice finishing touch to the smoothie, especially when you blend up this smoothie in the fall and winter months.

Step 3. Pour into a glass and serve!

Top Tip

When you are shelling the pistachios, try to rub off the skins as well. If you add too many of those, the taste can become bitter. This might also change the texture of the smoothie.
