Vegan orange Julius in glasses with orange wedges.

This recipe is elevated with a sweet, orange zest sugar rim that will add an extra layer of flavor with every sip. It’s bright and sunny like my mango smoothie recipe and deliciously creamy for a vegan smoothie, which comes from the almond milk.

🍊Ingredients

  • orange juice – I like to use frozen concentrate juice without added sugars or freshly squeezed.
  • almond milk – You can substitute with other non-dairy milks such as soy or oat.
  • vanilla extract – This is a must in an Orange Julius!
  • frozen ripe banana – You can buy these pre-frozen and sliced or freeze your own.
  • orange zest – From a navel orange.
  • sugar – You will need white sugar for the sugar rim.
  • orange wedge – If your orange is really large, just cut it in half to make a smaller garnish.

For the Garnish:

  1. Combine. Combine the orange zest and sugar on a small plate.
  2. Dip. Wet the rim of a glass by making a small cut to the middle of an orange wedge (don’t go through the rind), setting it on the rim and rubbing it around the entire rim. Dip/roll the rim of the glass in the sugar and zest mixture until the rim is well coated.

For the Julius:

  1. Pulse. Combine all Julius ingredients in a blender and pulse until smooth.
  2. Serve. Pour the orange julius into the glass and serve with an orange wedge on the rim.
